Arsenals were beaten with (3) three goals at home as Manchester City made a giant stride towards the title (Premier League). City now set 16 points above 2nd placed Neighbour and rivals Manchester City leaving the rest (other sides) in the League with other ambitions to contemplate on.
Arsenal was undone three times courtesy of goals from Bernardo Silva, David Silva and German Youngster Leroy Sane (who picked up the man of the match award).
These raised questions about Arsenal’s seasons once more as they looked toothless and uninspiring in the course of the 90 minutes.
On this note, we evaluate the three significant points from the match.
Arsenal Fans Disappointed
The home side could not muster even a goal in the entire match as Ramsey’s effort on goal was duly saved by Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.
To make matters worse for Arsenal, striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed from the spot as he lacked the composure and confidence to dispatch his spot-kick beyond the City goalkeeper.
This piled more misery on Arsenal and Arsenal Wenger as Arsenal fans left disappointed despite the array of talent like Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sead Kolasinac within the Arsenal mix.
Arsenal Lack Desire
With the Gunners 0-3 down in front of their home fans they could hardly create as they looked tepid and uncharacteristic in their second-half display. I wonder what they were told at the halftime break by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
However, it was clear that if there was any half-time talk for Arsenal in the dressing room, it was not working and this should have prompted a change in tactics and mindset.
All these were not forthcoming in the match as the host (Gunners) lacked the impetus and desire (character) to steer themselves up in the wake of adversary despite being on the front foot since the start of the second period.
Guardiola Haunts Arsenal
This has happened time and time again as Arsenal continues to let themselves down in big games (where it matters the most)as the case may be. Pep’s side has all the time enjoyed superiority tactically and technically over Arsenal Wenger’s side.
This was the case with the trio of David Silva, Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane ripping Arsenal apart defensively. This is evident as Arsenal has been dealt a blow twice in the space of 4 days by Manchester City by the same whooping (0-3) score lines.
This is not a good omen for the London side as they were victims of Pep Guardiola’s side during his time Spanish giants FCB Barcelona.
