Pep Gaurdiola claimed his maiden English silverware as his Manchester City side earned a 3-0 comfortable victory over Arsenal in the League Cup final. Serjio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silvai found their names on the scoresheet.
The first ever domestic final clash between the sides was a largely disappointing affair at a freezing Wembley Stadium, but the current Premier League leaders Manchester City were far too better than Arsenal side.
“ It’s important we’re so happy and a big congratulations to all Manchester City players and our fans. This trophy is for Manchester City and not for me” , Gaurdiola said. “The first half we were not good, there were a lot of mistakes, in the second half we played with a lot more courage and personality- we were outstanding”.
Manchester City who appear to have sealed the Premier League title barring a monumental collapse, did not have to hit the top gear to lift the trophy for the third time in last five years.
Arsenal now have lost a record six league Cup finals and it remains the only silverware that manager Arsene Wenger has not won.
